MONOPOLY LIVE from McDonald’s was a high-energy, interactive broadcast designed to celebrate the brand’s partnership with Monopoly while reaching a new, digitally native audience.
Bringing together three teams, each made up of popular internet personalities (@sophiesnazz, @JackJoseph and @harrisonleighx) and an iconic McDonald’s mascot (Birdie, Hamburglar, and Grimace), the event was streamed live across Twitch and Instagram, marking a bold step into a space where the brand had previously had limited presence.
Filmed inside a real McDonald’s restaurant, the production reimagined the classic board game into an unpredictable, entertainment-led experience. Custom “Chance” and “Community Chest” challenges transformed gameplay into spectacle, from building towering structures out of burger boxes to performing dance routines in a purpose-built disco area.
Whether it was a surprise rule change or mascots going rogue, combined with the competitive chaos of Monopoly itself, the livestream became a fast-paced and visually dynamic show where anything could happen.
A key feature of the project was interactivity. Viewers weren’t just watching, but actively shaping the game in real time through Twitch polls and Instagram chat. From voting on outcomes to influencing gameplay mechanics, audience participation required the run of show to be highly flexible, with creative and technical teams agile and ready to adapt instantly.
Delivering a 2.5-hour live broadcast of this scale required extensive logistical planning and execution where the team was prepped and ready to think on their feet. From redesigning the game format to developing a responsive camera, sound, and lighting set-up, every element was built to handle the unpredictability of live entertainment.
